Shot shell care
How to handle and store hunting shot shells.
- Store shotgun shells in the appropriate conditions: at 21º C (70º F) and 60% humidity, and preferably in a secure and ventilated place.
- Respect protected species.
- Do not leave spent cases in the field.
- Whenever possible, use biodegradable wads.
- Make sure the cartridge case is the same length as the shotgun chamber (70 or 76 mm. is the most common) before shooting. Non-matching lengths can be dangerous.
- Use shot shells that have been loaded under C.I.P. standards in order to ensure the safety of the ammunition and protect the firearm.
- If your shotgun is not proof tested for 1200 bar or kg/cm2, do not use shot shells that meet those specs.
